Ankatank’s Blue Period

So, I’m noticing something a of pattern… I have kind of a lot of blue work from the past year or two. There are even 1 or 2 projects that aren’t yet up on the site (coming soon) which fall into this category. This includes shades of blue, like seafoam green and teal, which might be a stretch but I think it still counts. Note to next client: your project can NOT blue! This is not to say I don’t like those projects, they are in fact some of my favorites. But dammit, I’m […]

Stop SOPA & PIPA

Stop SOPA & PIPA, save the Internet. Without a free, uncensored, un-policed Internet, I and so many others couldn’t do what we do. “What we do” is anything from run and promote a small business, protest injustices, communicate and collaborate with people across the world, share our creative projects and ideas with millions of people and gain a following all at once through a series of retweets… GOOD Magazine articulates it much better, as does the video posted below from […]

Who’s Your Mommy?

In honor of the HIGHLY ANTICIPATED series finale of one of my FAVORITE TV shows, and as an excuse to blog about How I Met Your Mother on a blog that is supposed to be strictly design and work related, I bring you WHO’S YOUR MOMMY. I cannot to wait to find out in 81 minutes, WHO is the mother of Ted Moseby‘s children… I admit, I wasn’t an early adopter of How I Met Your Mother, but I did just watch/rewatch the whole series in it’s entirety (I wasn’t just wasting time, I […]

More site updates—thankfully not due to hacker shenanigans this time

If you’re a frequent visitor to the site, which you probably are not, you might notice some changes. Like, that you can now access the blog! (Hopefully this means I won’t just be blogging secretly twice a year as has been the case thus far…) Or that the design of the project pages is cleaner and appear in a slideshow format. You might even notice that the slideshow in the homepage moves faster now and all the slideshows on the site now work with keyboard navigation. Yep. All that is […]

Font Aid V Now Available For Purchase

Remember when I was telling you about Font Aid (like 2 posts down but several months back) and that I submitted a few glyphs? Well I found out that SOTA has finished compiling all the submissions into a font and it’s now available for purchase. I was more excited than necessary to see that Veer used on of my glyphs as part of the sample image on the product page. Anyways, I grayed out the rest of the image to highlight my tiny glyph and make it seem more special. (See below. Full size here.) If […]

Hacked!

ARG! I was hacked! As a result, the site has been down for a bit, and sadly, all ratings were erased. Please feel free to re-rate (click the heart to tell me you love things), or rate for the first time—it would do wonders for my ego. On the bright side, I took this as an opportunity to spruce up the site design a little and finally implement some Typekit fonts instead of boring old Helvetica. (Sorry Helvetica. We had a good run but I think it’s best for us both if we just move on.)

Font Aid V

I recently heard about this project that SOTA (The Society of Typographic Aficionados) is organizing. It’s called Font Aid V: Made For Japan. SOTA is asking designers to submit glyphs which they feel represent Japan. SOTA will then compile all those submissions into a font which will be sold with proceeds going toward relief efforts in Japan after the devastating tsunami and earthquake this year. This is the fifth SOTA has organized a project like this (hence the “V” in “Font Aid […]

Prince Street Films on SiteInspire!

When I woke up the other day, I reached for my intelligent phone to check my email first thing in the morning like I do. I opened my daily email from SiteInspire and SHRIEKED, frightening my ball-and-chain-to-be wide awake from his restful slumber. Why? Because in that email from SiteInspire was a screenshot of PrinceStreetFilms.com, a site I designed earlier this year, and SiteInspire was featuring it in their showcase! Since I love SiteInspire and completely trust their taste, I’m crazy pumped […]

New site—finally.

It took me long enough, but the new site is here. I’ve been designing and redesigning this thing for a good eight months. Ridiculous. I am the worst client I’ve ever had. I wanted to fire myself so many times. And after all this, I’m still probably going to harass myself for all kinds of absurd edits really soon. But nevermind all that. Can’t you just let me enjoy this launch? Geez Louise. You can rate projects by clicking on the heart next to the project and letting my know you […]
